The mall has been abandoned and faces demolition due to neglect and safety concerns. Goodwin aims to bring new life to the area and create a safer, more prosperous community for residents.

Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr., a Democrat running for Assembly District 12, has announced his vision to revitalize the Northridge Mall area, which has been abandoned and faces demolition due to neglect and safety concerns. The mall, which opened in 1972 with anchors such as J.C. Penney, Sears, Boston Store, and Gimbels, declined over the years due to the cancellation of a planned freeway, increased crime in the area, and the rise of other shopping options with easy freeway access.

Goodwin's plan includes transforming the area into a new outdoor mall with a variety of offerings, including stores, food trucks, family activities, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. His goal is to create a vibrant, thriving community that attracts residents and visitors alike. With the support of Governor Tony Evers, the City of Milwaukee has received $15 million to demolish the old Boston Store portion of the mall, with plans to complete the demolition by the end of 2025.

Goodwin's vision for the Northridge Mall area aligns with his campaign promises for safer communities, better schools, improved infrastructure, job creation, and fair property taxes. By revitalizing the mall, Goodwin aims to not only bring economic growth to the area but also create a sense of pride and community for residents. His plan showcases a commitment to transforming neglected spaces into opportunities for growth and prosperity, ultimately making a positive impact on the community as a whole
